Introduction

Power BI is a Microsoft tool that helps in developing the visualization, dashboard and reports using dataset. It enables us to arrange information in charts, reports and dashboards for a quick and clear grasp of the data. In this, I will give you the basics of Power BI, and how I have developed the IPL Analysis Dashboard in Power BI.



What is Power BI?

Microsoft's Power BI is a data visualization and business intelligence solution. It is used to link data and organise it, to analyse it and to present it as visual reports and dashboards. Rather than reading through big tables of numbers, Power BI helps us to better understand data through the use of:

  • Bar charts
  • Pie charts
  • KPI cards
  • Tables
  • Slicers
  • Interactive dashboards

Power bi is very useful for companies; besides students and analysts, everyone who wants to learn and study data in a clear and attractive manner.

There are two Reasons why People use Power BI.

Power BI has been used because it enables making this data easily understandable. It may be difficult to manually analyze all of this information if it is large and is stored in tables of Excel or databases. Power BI overcomes this issue by visualizing the data.

Power BI helps to:

  1. Interpret data and make inferences
  2. Compare values easily
  3. Keep track and track through KPI cards
  4. Prepare reports in an interactive manner.
  5. Act with informed decision making using data.
  6. Create a basic Power BI dashboard.Create a very basic Power BI dashboard.

1. Data Import

You can connect to Excel, CSV, SQL databases and many other data sources into Power BI.

2. Data Cleaning

Power Query will remove data errors and allow us to transform the column types, and prepare the data for analysis.

3. Data Modeling

Tables can be linked together and DAX formulas can be used to create calculations.

4. Visualization

Power BI has a wide range of charts and visualisations, such as:

  • Bar chart
  • Column chart
  • Donut chart
  • Line chart
  • Cards
  • Slicers

5. Dashboard Creation

All the visuals can be put on a single page and will allow you to have a full summary of all of the data in a dashboard.

About My Project – IPL Analysis Dashboard

I made an IPL Analysis Dashboard using Power BI to analyze cricket data. The dashboard is about how IPL teams and players are doing. It shows things like who're the top batsmen, top bowlers total runs scored total wickets taken and how many boundaries were hit. It also compares players. The main goal of this dashboard is to make IPL data easy to get from looking at pictures of going through lots of records.

Power BI is a tool that makes it easy to turn numbers and information into reports that are easy to understand. It helps people look at data quickly and get a picture of what is going on. In my IPL Analysis Dashboard I used Power BI to show cricket statistics in a fun and interesting way. The dashboard is really helpful for people who want to learn about how teamsre doing how batsmen are performing how bowlers are doing and how players compare to each other. It also shows statistics about the teams. This is an example of how Power BI can be used to make dashboards for sports. Working on this project taught me how to use things like filters and cards that show numbers and how to make charts and design the dashboard in Power BI. I learned how to use these things to tell a story with data in a way that's easy to look at and understand. Power BI is really useful, for this.

Objective of the Dashboard

The aim of this dashboard is to check how IPL teams and players are doing with the help of Power BI pictures. It helps users know:

  • Analyse the player who scored the highest runs 
  • Analyse the bowler who took the highest wickets 
  • How many 4’s. 6’S were scored in IPL
  • Batting and bowling stats of IPL players
  • How IPL teams and franchises are doing
  • How many Indian and overseas players are, in IPL
  • IPL player performance
  • IPL team performance
  • IPL Analysis

What This Dashboard Shows Overall

This Indian Premier League dashboard is really useful because it gives us a summary of how the franchises and players are doing all in one place. We do not have to look at a lot of tables to get the information we need. The visuals in the Premier League dashboard make it easy to understand the important things.
This Indian Premier League dashboard helps us to analyze a few things, such as:
  • Team performance in the Premier League
  • Who the top batsman and bowler are in the Premier League
  • Statistics about boundaries in the Premier League
  • Details about the batting and bowling of players in the Indian Premier League
  • How Indian players and overseas players are distributed in the Premier League
  • A comparison of the batting average of franchises, in the Indian Premier League.
